Looking for the Brith Certifate of a Charles SMith of who I'm a decendant. The sme Smith was born in London, 1832. Moved to Australia and married Mary Jane Jolly also born in 1832 in Cornwall. Date of marriage 16 Dec 1852.
It is alleged that this Charles Smith is of some relation to the wife of Captain James Cook.
Anyone have any information?

Sorry, but if he was born in 1832, you won't locate a birth certificate, except in certain circumstances if his dad was in the army.
Civil registration only began in 1837, prior to then it is a case of using parish registers to locate a baptism. Note that parish registers being a church record are chiefly concerned with religious events and for events since 1813 are unlikely to record the date of birth (for 1780-1812 you do often find mopre detail, including the date of birth).

Well your advice has been very informative. Thankyou.
I guess my only hope now is to investigate the rumour that has been handed down through genarations that he has a link to the Wife of Captain James Cook.
Also at the wedding, here in Melbourne, it was stated that a Thomas Jolly was a witness at the wedding.
