Hi

Please could some kind person locate Isaac HURCUM (Hurcombe/hurkum etc)and Mary Anne FRYER in 1841 please?

Isaac was born in 1819 in Tidenham, he was a mariner.
Mary Anne was born in 1823 in Berkeley (d/o Thomas & Harriet Fryer).

Isaac and Mary Ann married in Berkeley in 1842.

Is the 1841 census available online anywhere?

Thanks
Sue

Yes the 1841 census for Gloucestershire is available at British Origins but it is a subscriber service. Costs about 15 GBP (I paid around $34 Canadian) for one year and you can check the 1841 census for Gloucester as often as you like. More counties will be added slowly as they get transcribed.

So far there are 7 counties online. Cambridgeshire, Devon, Dorset, Essex, Gloucestershire (includes Bristol), Lincolnshire, Norfolk and Suffolk. A full index to the digitised images of the complete census for England & Wales will become available over the coming months.

I have had trouble with the image viewer that you have to download, but since I have the Devon census CDs from Archive CD books, I'm not too worried about that.

I use this site mainly for Devon and I have found it EXTREMELY helpful. :)

In the meantime, here is Isaac from the 1841 census :) There was only 1 :D

HURCUM ISAAC M 20
Born GLOUCESTERSHIRE
Place BEACHLEY
Township BEACHLEY
Parish TIDENHAM
County GLOUCESTERSHIRE

Chepstow
HO107-0369
ED 5
Folio No 17
Page No 28
Entry No 18

Couldnt decide which Mary/Ann Fryer/Frier was the right one, although Thomas & Harriet were easy to find. They were both in Berkeley Parish:)

The only downside to this site is that the census records are NOT indexed into households. :( But if you search using the surname and the parish, you can generally put all the names with the same townships or streets into groups which ends up creating the household anyway. :)
