I am researching a member of the Indian Army for a friend. The name of the soldier is Reginald Wildred Abroe who served in WWI and WW2.
I am going through the process of ordering his medal card from the National Archives and his service record from the British Library, but would like to know if there are any other resources out there where I might find useful information about his army service.
His medal card for WWI indicates that he was part of the Auxillary Force India as a volunteer. His regiment number was 1182. It is beleived that he served in Africa during this time.
Reginald was also mentioned in the Supplement to the London Gazette on 5/8/1943. He is listed under the Corps of Indian Engineers as a Sergeant, with the number 136080 next to his name (possibly his regiment number). It is beleived this listing was the result of receiving a certificate for distinguished service, along with other members of the Indian Corps.
Any assistance anyone could provide would be greatly appreciated.
