I am trying to trace the father of my gt.gt. grandfather John JARVIS who was born in 1823. Possibly Bucks.

He married Emma Sophia ROBBINS on 22.8.1842 in Buckingham Parish Church. Emma's father was Thomas Robbins and the father of John Jarvis was shown on the marriage certificate as John GREEN.

I am `assuming' that John Jarvis was born illegitimately, but at this stage am keeping an open mind. I have found several John Greens on the Bucks. 1851 Census and am wondering if either of these two could possibly be John's father?

There is a John Green living in Amersham ( I know this is quite a way from Buckingham) at the Wheatsheaf, Bury End. He is a publican, and his wife is Elizabeth. There are three children shown as step-children with the surname of BRIGHT, so obviously this John had been married before and the youngest is named Green aged 2. There is another John Green living in Amersham also with his wife Sarah aged 48 and 48 respectively.

The reason I have picked on Amersham, is that in trying to trace my Emma and John, I found two deaths of an Emma and John Jarvis in Amersham, on 1837online between the years of 1846 and 1850. I am only guessing, but wonder if they could be my rellies, and were living near the father of John?

Does anyone recognise the name of John GREEN? Or, can anyone help me eliminate those listed above. I should be grateful for any ideas.
