Hi Robsnicta
There are about 5 Ovington's in England so can't answer your question without knowing which one.
If you can find the birth, death or marriage on www.freeBMD.org and tick the icon on the right.
This will tell you the district and which towns and villages are included.

Do you mean Oving? That came under Aylesbury for civil registration purposes.

As Richard said, there's more than one Ovington in England, however I am aware of one in Norfolk for which you can find records here:

Think you have the wrong FreeBMD Richard. :smile5: (Especially as it mentions the word 'sales' on it)
http://freebmd.rootsweb.com/ is the one that's working, and has been in existence for many years.
Robsnicta - when you've found an entry on this FreeBMD, click on the registration district and you then get a link to all the places in that district.
To check out which place is in which district http://www.ukbmd.org.uk/genuki/reg/index.htm and click on 'Index of place names'.

If you add '.uk' to the end of the website address given by Richard, you'll also get to the 'real' FreeBMD.

The questioner will also find it useful to bookmark GenUKI's directory of Registration Districts (http://www.ukbmd.org.uk/genuki/reg/)

When trying to locate registration districts in England and Wales try:
http://www.ukbmd.org.uk/genuki/places/index.html
There is a useful 'Place-Name-Index' (PDF file) which you can download and save for future reference.

Pam
You are really naughty
Without wishing to send this thread off-topic, why am I naughty?
If you're talking about me saying that your link was incorrect, then I didn't know that adding .uk to the URL would make it 'correct'.
But as your link was to a not-much-happening screen with the word 'sales', what was I supposed to make of it? I know I have my moments of sheer brilliance  but there are times when my mind-reading fails.

The recommended URL for FreeBMD is http://www.freebmd.org.uk/
The URL provided by Richard1955 is a completely different site and appears to be connected to another genealogical site, much inferior to British-Genealogy.

Hi Everybody
Just to straighten things out here.
The freebmd I mentioned earier was not intended as a link at all.
Pam. I thought you were referring / teasing about a commercial link I provided for someone the other day
and had a telling off for.
No harm done. I don't think. PM if not.

Hi Richard,
Thanks for the explanation. :flowers:
Hadn't seen you sitting on the naughty step, so no wonder I was confused.
