They had the following Children born in Launceston Tasmania
1.Lanoma Ruby Pearl Owen 1892......no other record
2.Arthur Henry Owen 1897 ......deceased
3. Veronica Elsie Owen 1894.......no other record
4.Muriel Gwendoline Owen 1895.....deceased 1895
5.Elvie Clarance Owen 1895 .......deceased 1996
6.Viola Elizabeth Owen 1887..... no other record

My quandry is that in the family history a James Gregory married an Elsie May Owen whose parents names on the marriage cert are Robert Owen and Eliza Elisabeth Owen (nee Lee). I can find no record of an Elsie May Owen being born to Robert and Eliza in Tasmania Victoria etc. I have wondered whether Veronica called herself Elsie? I have found an Elsie May Owen being born to a Bridget and Henry Owen in Tasmania But i cannot find any other record of Bridget and Henry after this date.
On the marriage, divorce and death papers of Elsie May Gregory(nee Owen) James wife, she was born in Tasmania and states all the names of parents on the marriage cert she was 26, therefore you could presume she was born circa 1898. Cannot find any record in any state. The other Elsie May Owen was born
about 1889.
If any one could put me in the right direction i would be most happy

Despite the age difference I think that Elsie would probably be Veronica as you suggest, unless her birth was not registered. It is reasonably common for children to be registered one way but then known by another combination of names. Her parents are named on her marriage so she must belong to that family despite the lack of a matching birth registration. It seems impossible to know for sure, since children's names will not be listed on her parent's death certificates if they died in Tasmania, and she also will not be named on subsequent siblings birth registrations as previous issue like in other states.
Newspaper death notices, obituaries, might list children's names.
Not finding any further records for a Veronica will also strengthen the theory.

Absolutely agree with ChristineR above. The newspapers have been the only way to piece together all the unregistered children in one of my Tassie families. It's an ongoing search. Probably stating the obvious but have you tried the newspapers on TROVE? (- just in case you were unaware of it's existance.)
