Hello everyone, I am new to this forum and I am asking if it is possible that anyone can look up a birth and death for me please?
We are missing a set of twins in our family history and think they were: LILY JULIA and VIOLET SUSANNAH HERBERT born SOUTHWARK March 1906(ref no.) 1d 151 and died March 1906 (ref no.) 1d 80 and need to confirm the parents before ordering the certs.
I do hope that I am not being too cheeky and that I am in the correct forum!!
Many thanks.

No one will be able to look this up as the reference you give is to the General Register Office (GRO) index. The only information provided for free by the GRO is the index from which you obtained the reference.
The GRO indices of births; and marriages; and deaths only records limited information; the earlier you go back towards 1837, the less information is given in these indices. If researching frequently occurring surnames this can be a problem unless you can narrow down the search period using other sources of information. If you're not too sure how to use the indices or how to try and narrow down the search, please ask

You can reduce the cost below the standard £7 by specifying some condition which has to be met (eg parent's name) before a certificate is issued. If the condition is met it will cost you £7 and you'll get the certificate. If it is not met it will cost you £3 (or is it £4?) and you won't get the certificate.
What you state as a condition needs a modicum of careful consideration. Give us a shout if you're going down this path.
In the meantime, I sincerely recommend a trip to the local library and look for a suitable beginners' guide to genealogy. It will save you a lot of frustration and probably money.
