I started halfheartedly researching my family tree back in 2004 - mainly to find out about my paternal line as my father had left my mother when I was 18 months old and I had reached the age where doctors start to ask the "any family history of ..." questions!

Along the way I have discovered that he was married six times, one annulled and four divorces plus at least two other relationships that have produced offspring ...

I found a 41 year old half-brother in 2004 ( who I have since met up with :-) ), and then a 34 year old half-sister who made contact last year - yet to meet up. I have also been told there is another child, not from a marriage born in 1970 with whom he kept no contact so may never get to grips with that one!

I also have another half-brother and half-sister ( aged 15 and 13 at present) - they live with him and his present wife who is under the impression that she is his second wife ... as told to me by a cousin I happened to come across and then meet up with!!!

Wow! Quite the family tree to shake the leaves off of! I wish you lots of luck. I am sure anyone researching your family in later years will be happy to find their research greatly aided by whatever you document.
Just a nosey question, but are you in contact with your Dad at all? ( Genealogists are nosey people!)

I wouldn't call us nosey Sue just merely curious - oh already we're really blooming nosey. Couldn't agree more what an amazing family tree to work out.

No - I know where he lives ... amazingly a 30 minute drive from me considering we are both Londoners ... but he ignored a letter I sent and I now know via my cousin that he doesn't want contact ... which is quite understandable if his present wife thinks she is only the second and also that he only has one daughter (the 1976 one!)

What a pair of complicated situations - yours with the research - his with his family!
