Have just been sent a copy of 'Fever Beach' by Mary Kruithof ISBN 0 9577601 2 4
It tells the story of the ill fated Ticonderoga, which sailed to Victoria, Australia with emigrants from the Highland Emigration Society in 1852, but had to be quarantined because of a dreadful outbreak of fever. A connection of my husband's family died. The author descends from John and Mary FANNING from Londonderry, who acted as nurses on the ship, and whose son Patrick became a lighthouse keeper - any relation of yours, Colin? :wink5:
