Hi there listers,
I am transcribing some census information and have come across an occupation that I can't decipher. the piece number is RG9/2557/Folio 113 Page 25 Schedule 149. Looks something like Tine or Side Maker at Cotton Mill. If noone can decipher the very faint writing, is there a list of Cotton Mill occupations available anywhere, that I might look-up
Thanks in advance
Mike Bannister

"...size maker at a cotton mill."

Perhaps I could add that if that's what it is (and I wish people would post the image they're talking about), size or paste was used as a medium for applying colour in calico printing.

Thanks UK Search for deciphering and Peter for the Job Description I will now adjust that on my database with a note about what the job actually was.
Gratefully

It's not the cotton industry! It's tanning.

Frizer -

Someone who scrapes or pushes tissue (flesh, hair etc) from certain kinds of leather, by hand with a two-handled knife
