Daveny Lovett married Jane Lovell (Lewell?) in 1841 at Thetford. Child, Walter born 1846 in Thetford. No sign of family on 1851 census. In 1861 Jane and Walter at Croston (?)Road, St Cuthbert, Thetford but no sign of Daveny (Jane states she is married). Not found in 1871 census. Jane and Walter found in 1881 in County Durham, Jane now a widow. So assume Daveny died between 1861 and 1881. Has anyone come across him or the family?
Thanks

Batty (East Sussex)Batty,
Daveny is such an unusual name which should make it easy to find on the censuses... at least one would think...
If I am decipering the handwriting correctly, there's a Robert Daveney LOVETT, aged 40, on the 1871 census. He's living with wife Elizabeth and children, Robert Daveney, Elizabeth Kate, Albert George and Charles, all 4 years and under. He's a bricklayer born in St. Bennetts, Norwich and residing in Stoke Newington, London. I believe this one is too young to match your Daveny LOVETT but they must be related somehow.

HO107/1832 f344 p23
Oldmeeting Lane, Thetford St.Mary
Jane LOVETT, Lodg(Head), -, 33, Char Woman, bn Thetford
Mary Ann LOVETT, Lodg, -, 9, Scholar, bn Thetford
Walter LOVETT, Lodg (Son), -, 5, Char Woman Son, bn Thetford
They look to be lodging with the Stearne family, the head of household being a Sailor. Could Daveny Lovett have been a nautical chap too and away at sea? Perhaps he'd either popped his clogs by 1851, was working elsewhere, or possibly had done a Nellie. (i.e. run off).
