Some directories are different....

This Glover's Directory of Nottingham (http://www.parishchest.com/en-gb/dept_689.html) (1844) for example, lists all the male residents along with their status.

One of the interesting things here, is that even the lowly framework knitters are included.... even some of my NEEP family.... including a couple who are a mystery to me. I can feel some new research coming on! Even a framework knitter can be a freeman of the town.

One of the interesting things here, is that even the lowly framework knitters are included.... and as you can see.... even some of my NEEP family.... including a couple who are a mystery to me. I can feel some new research coming on! Even a framework knitter can be a freeman of the town.
Not the Notorious Neep Knitters of Nottingham....hope you are keeping up the family tradition
Having had a look at the excellant Holden's Triennial Directory from Archive CD Books, I have found several entries with the right surname, right place and right occupation - they just don't happen to have the right Christian names  So, here we go again..........
Best wishes
