Electoral registration was introduced into the UK in 1832 and registers have been issued for each parliamentary constituency every year since then, with certain exceptions.
The British Library has an excellent webpage on these Registers which makes for good reading in case Rod decides to surprise us one day
Incidentally I never realized that almost the complete registers appear to be intact - is this another mess of mouse eaten paper ?
