Hi Everyone
I would like help in finding the parents and siblings of a Charles Mallowes who was born approx 1814 in Redenhall in Norfolk.
On his marriage and death certificates it states JOHN MALLOWS as father, but this is where I hit a BRICKWALL because I do not know which John is his father, I have found about 6 different John Mallows in Norfolk, also I have been told that a John Mallows could be his father who came from Suffolk, but I do not know.
So if anyone can help me, please get back to me.

As there are a few of them, can you give us the name of his Mother & perhaps his wife?
Have you found him definitely on any census?

FreeReg appear to have records for the Redenhall and Harleston parish
My first search did not reveal that much except the soundex match Mills with Mallows in Redenhall
I would suggest you have a good look as I know the best coverage on Freereg is Norfolk by a long way and I have had some successes there.

Thank you the 1st one is not mine - John and Amy Mallows.
But the rest are mine, there is also a number of ways that Mallows has been spelt over the years - Manners, Mallard, Mallice, Mallos, just to name a few that I can remember.

He married Mary Pooley on the 24 September 1841 in Gillingham at St. Mary's Church. And children are James, Charles, Mary Ann Benjamin, Hannah, Elizabeth and Emily.
He was born approx 1814 in Redenhall, Norfolk.
Do not know who his mother is, but on Marriage and Death certificates it only states that father was John Mallows.
He is on 1841, 1851, 1861, 1871 and 1881 Census (I only have these copies of Census).

I have tried freereg, with great success with marriage and children of Charles and Mary (Pooley) Mallows.
But no luck with his parents, have found around 6 John Mallows in the Norfolk area, but at this stage can not say which is that father to my Charles.
Also another good site for your reference is 'GILLINGHAM ST.MARY'S" which is for Baptisms at St. Mary's Church Gillingham 1818 - 1880

There is this John MALLOW in the 1851 census of Hales (next door to Gillingham) who might perhaps be worth further investigation:
HO107/1820, folio 203, page 4
By Kirby Road
John MALLOW Head Mar 61 Farm Labourer Suffolk Friston? (Ancestry has transcribed it as Flixton)
Elizabeth do Wife Mar 62 do Mellingham (Mettingham?)
This John and wife Elizabeth are in Hales in the 1841 census (HO107/756/9, folio 9, page 12), living at Nr Kirby Road with children Eleanor 15, James 15 & Samuel 14, all shown as born in the county except John who is described as a Game Keeper.
Don't know whether this could be relevant, but if John's birthplace is Flixton, looking through for John & Elizabeth in the 1861 census, I came across a Charles MALLOWS, born c1792 Flixton, who is living at Kirby Cane, Norfolk (again extremely close to Hales & Gillingham). This family definitely might be worth further investigation.

Thank you for your reply, I have found this John, but at this stage can't say if he is father to Charles or not. As I said I have found about 6 John Mallows in the Norfolk area and this John who is in Suffolk.
There is limited records for all of Norfolk online and I dont know about suffolk, I was giving this information but at present time he can't confirm or deny if information is correct.
Cheers

"Studip me", I did not read your reply to me re: no. 8, correctly, because I thought you were talking about another John Mallows. The John Mallows that you are talking about is the 1st born to John Mallows and Susannah Lacey. This John Mallows who married Elizabeth Sayer who your talking about is (I have been told that he is the father to my Charles Mallows born 1814 in Redenhall, but I cant find any records to prove this is correct).
The Charles that you are talking about is 2nd born to John Mallows and Susannah Lacey and he is the brother to John Mallows.
I know is gets very confused at times because of the number of John's, Charles and in this family of Mallows.
So I am sorry again for not reading your reply correct.
Cheers
