Hi all

I've just received a newsletter from TNA which mentions:

We've got more exciting news with the launch of a new Labs section of our website. The idea behind Labs is that it provides us with a place for you, our users, to test out new online systems and resources before they go live on our main website. This will allow us to test out ideas for improved ways to search and explore our collection, and get your feedback on whether you think that our ideas work.

We're testing several innovative products on Labs at the moment, including the UK history photo finder, which allows you to view photos from the 1920s to 1940s through an interactive map. Dive in and explore Labs today!

There is also a Valuation Office map finder tool for England and Wales on there as well.

Hope this proves useful.

I've used it already, found the right reference for my house and field, found out who owned some of the land and cottage.......the maps are gorgeous, all coloured and enormous to handle!

Being very dim I thought you had to visit TNA to find out who owned the land etc; so [B]how[B] do you proceed when you've located the property?

Sorry, I didn't say that I had visited TNA, but what the LABs site did was take me to the correct reference so that I could order the correct map. Looking at the TNA site normally is like plaiting fog, but this particular link seemed to take me exactly to where I wanted to be.

Once I had the section of map that I wanted, I then had to go and get help from the research help desk to find out what else I needed to identify ownership/useage etc. And a very helpful man guided me through the process.

I do need to go again, because needless to say I didn't find out as much as I would have liked, but that will have to wait for a while when I have more time!
