Master Mariner means that he had done all the training and had passed his captains ticket.
#102662 his registered number so that the board of trade could keep track of who and where he worked.
Plymouth 17th March 1885 - date when received masters ticket.
1884 Curlew/84 - signed on the vessel "Curlew' in 1884.
C88126 - registered number of the vessel "Queen".
Queen 28.3 - 30.6 - signed on vessel 'Queen" 28th March signed off 30th June. no date of year.
1886 C88126 Queen 7.1-30.6 - signed on vessel "Queen" 7th Jan, signed off 30th June.
1887 C88126 Queen 1.5-30.6 - signed on vessel "Queen" 1st May, signed off 30th June.
looks like he was a relief captain? as he was not permantly empoyed by the owners of the "Queen".

Thank you for the info. How does one find rhe Vessel # for the Curlew?
In 1881 Census RG 11/2106 3 Apr 1881
Vessel Great Western, Melcombe Regis, Dorset
John Blamped age 37 Master
James Beale age 38 Weymouth, Dorset , Second Mate
Was the owner of this vessel the Great Western Railway Company with service Weymouth to Cherbourg.
James Beale had a 2nd ticket #82744 Beale James born Weymouth Dorset 1839
Only Mate passed Hull 8 May 1866
My James Beale was born23 Oct 1842 Weymouth, Dorset and Christened 19 Jan 1843 Weymouth, Dorset.
Are we dealing with 2 different James Beale?
There is another census entry 1891 RG12/1648 101
Ship or Vessel names SS Victoria Reg # 82355 Steel Hull Paddle Steamer 5 Apr 1891
James Beale age 48 Weymouth, Dorset Master
On board a seaman and a steward
Jame Beale seems to have had a spotty marine career!
