I don't know if this site has been mentioned before, I came across it the other day, and thought that it may be of some use to anyone searching for children who had been put in care of The Children's Society in late Victorian and early 20th Century Britain.
I'm not too sure if you can actually search for a name or not, but it might be a starting point.

The names have all been blanked which makes me wonder why they bother putting them on the web..

Handy from the social history point of view, it's quite interesting putting meat on bones.
Though not a lot of good for the family historian searching particular ancestors.

As I see it, and it was explained on the site - the names have been reduced to initials so that any living people will not have their full name exposed to the internet. Those that have knowledge of relatives who went to a Childrens Home should be able to recognise the initials
