Aw, I thought you were going to claim Moses and Mary.

As for Tim (very off topic!), you get 10 out of 10 for knowing who Timothy B Schmit is (even if you might have googled
him :smile5:).
My own pic would have scared everyone away, hence the pic of favourite singer. If you've not heard him sing, check him out on You Tube. :smile5:

Edited to add: If you're an Eagles fan you might want to waste five minutes of your life  reading
this thread (http://www.british-genealogy.com/forums/editpost.php?do=updatepost&postid=420845).

I'm a fan of the Eagles. Don't know anything about Googl.. or Utube... but my Family search is a priority.
So far, I have read all the daily posts & as you can see I'm not very good at finding my way around, so, finding my parents could be tricky for me.
Just thought I would draw the attention of someone who might help me get started. I notice lots of info. going too & fro, which is over my head. My first task is to solve the problem of where my family came from.
1875c three men all called ROACH arrived in Trimdon Village, County Durham.
They were known as Brothers, Pat, John & James, all claimed to have travelled from Ireland.
I need to make the link back to Ireland, two of them married & these records show refs. stating that their father was Phillip & mother was Ann. I have most of the Trimdon records from that date to the present day, but, how do I go about making the link back to Ireland. If there are any Eagles fans or Doobie Brothers fans who would like to help then we could also have a good natter.

OK, we'll start with the good news, which is that you've found a thread to post in. :smile5:
The bad news is that it's in the wrong thread.
The worse news is that I'm not sure whether you should have posted in the General Ireland query section or Durham.
The better news is that the forum is looked after by the Super Moderators (aka mods) who are usually sure which is the better forum. So if you sit tight for a couple of hours I'm pretty certain that a nice mod will be along and move your query to the appropriate forum. (Knowing them, they're probably doing it while I'm slowly typing this reply. :smile5:)
Durham will be found in the 'counties - England' section, and immediately beneath the England counties, you have Ireland counties, and the first section in there is 'General Irish Family History'.
What you will need to have ready is info regarding which brothers married; their alleged birthplaces in all the census; are their ages consistent in the census - i.e. not 36 in one census and then only 40 in the next. Are they definitely nowhere in England or Wales earlier than about 1875?
And where have you got Ann from as the mother? England and Wales marriage certificates only have a box for naming the father, though I have heard that very occasionally the mother's name has been recorded when someone is illegitimate.
This might be the last you see of me and Tim :smile5: because Ireland is way out of my knowledge range, but I'll be keeping my fingers crossed that someone will be able to help.

Thanks Pam,
As you suggested I have spent some time looking at threads of Durham County & General Irish Family History. It's all fascinating.
I have all the info ready for a Super Moderator & can't wait to get going.
Yes I have got my threads crossed & hope someone can find a more appropriate home for my request.
In the meantime thanks again for making me feel welcome, I liked your explanation for using Tim's image.
The album cover is good, why not ask him for a more personal photo, perhaps one with both of you together.
Now, where is my Super Moderator!

Now, where is my Super Moderator!I am here! :biggrin5:

I have copied some of the details in your first post onto a new thread here (http://www.british-genealogy.com/forums/showthread.php/62161-ROACH-brothers-in-Trimdon-Village-Co-Durham?p=420891#post420891), which is entitled ROACH brothers in Trimdon Village, Co Durham. :wink5:

If anyone is able to help Tony, please post on the other thread.

Thanks,

Your Super Moderator is currently slaving away over a hot stove  (I have insider information!) but is aware of your problem, and will be along later this evening to sort you out.

Stop press: Your Super Moderator was slaving away over a hot stove and was aware of your problem, but has already been along to sort you out. (Thanks Jan.)

I have to add that it's not necessarily the mod who will answer your query, but once you're in the right section, other people will be asking questions, and the stuff I mentioned will be the sort of answers they'll want to know. Though if you've been reading the forums thoroughly, you should be getting an idea of the sort of information you need to give in order to be
helped.:smile5:
