I read a thread on this topic a while back and can't find it now. I thinkk I may have a situation where such naming had been done.

My wife has an ancestor -Timothy Rees Thomas, who's father was Rees Thomas . Timothy was born in Narberth, Pembrokeshire in 1856. Rees Thomas, based upon the the 1861 census, was also born in the same parish, in 1824. There is nothing that I could discern from the census that would lead me nack.

Should I when searching, look for a parent surnamed Rees or Thomas?

Hi Colin,

Have I found the right Rees Thomas? In 1861 wife's name Mary, Rees born Llandissilio, his occ. Carpenter.

In 1871 wife's name Sarah, Rees born Llandissilio, occ. Carpenter.

1851 wife Mary, Rees born Llandissilio, occ. Carpenter.

If the above are correct, this could be Rees in 1841, born Carmarthenshire, occ. Carpenter Apprentice. Living in Llandissilo
