does anyone know of any websites that might show the older dorset with various parishes and county borders etc. as i dont know dorset at all :o , i am an aussie born and bread |woohoo| , it is hard for me to know if a family found in the census belongs to me unless it matches the previous one.

Once again, the wonderful Archive CD Books to the rescue :) . You don't say how much earlier you want maps for, but "County Maps - Cornwall, Devon, Somerset & Dorset (http://www.parishchest.com/en-gb/dept_3546.html)" has maps from 1695, then 1831, 1837, 1844, 1849, 1927 and 1931.

Might want to hold of a little program called ParLoc (Parish Locator). Its free and not only list parishes but also gives distances between 2 parishes and this within a ceratin radius.
Very useful it has proven too!
