Hello, I am new to this forum, and relatively new to family research.
I am enjoying it but have very limited knowledge of the resources out there....
I am working on my maternal grandmother at the moment. As my mother was raised by another family (possibly a relation), and her Mum was unmarried, I am struggling to get information.
From one source I have the registration details of her birth (possible)in 1907 in Granard, Ireland, and another record of her death in 1978 in Ealing. I am interested to learn as much as possible about her and wondered just what information is given on marriage and death certificates so I can choose which one to go for first (budget constraints!!).
I would be grateful for any replies,
Thanks
Eileen

Hi Eileen,

Take a look at this site:

The death index shows the date of birth. Presumably you have noted this. The death certificate also includes the place of birth. Although I wouldn't say it's worth buying death certificates routinely, it may be useful to you in this case.

Don't forget thst the information on the certificate is only as good as the information supplied ny the informant.
