Marriage look up Question

Here's the question.

Can you ask for a marriage look up for a marriage that took place in the 1970's 80's but not giving first names. Only surnames?

I think it was about this time by the big hair on the bride.

I have been sent a newspaper cutting of a marriage that took place about this time in Brecon Cathedral but the cutting has no date on it. Also it says recently married so that doesn't help either.

I assume the people are still alive, I think they were born in the 60's

If it's not acceptable I will leave it.

You can search GRO index by surname and mother's maiden name. It will bring up all children born to that surname. I use ancestry GRO indexes but would assume freebmd is the same but it is not complete. If you need pm me and I will have a look for you. My cousin lives in Brecon near Powys - small world! :)
