A publican certainly fits the bill, unless you'd rather go to the General Irish Family History Forum, where you'll find County Antrim also.
Do you have any further information on him? Age marital status, did he stay in Ireland?

Yes I certainly do, but not much..James Nelson born abt 1818 Belfast Ireland..was a Publican in Mill St..?...John St. Belfast Antrim..in 1832..1837..
There was a Roger Nelson..Publican Union St..Belfast Antrim..1837....wonder if they were brothers...
On his sons marriage certificate it states his father as Publican..but nothing elso..I have no spouses name, just that he had a son James Nelson born 1841..Shankill Belfast..

I have the info on South Australia up till his death...but I am having great difficulty finding his Irish family..especially his mother...On his transportation papers, his DOB was 1841..Shankill Belfast...no parents names which I find strange..I did get his fathers name and occupation on his marriage certificate...and came across a James Nelson..Publican in Belfast..John St..etc...but nothing more..
I have papers stating that James Jnr( the above's son). joined the Royal East Kent Regiment, 3rd of Foot..in Belfast 1858/9..and was sent to Malta, where he had his trial and sent to Aust...
Now, I have found a 1851 census, of James Nelson, age 10..father James 33, and mother Agnes 34..in Camberwell, Surrey. ( Is this the same family as James Nelson who came to Adelaide....)...Camberwell, Surey is where the Kent Regiment was stationed...and its only a guess, but I think the family went back to Ireland, and later James joined there...as I cant find anything on them prior to or after that date.....what I would like to know, apart from that being him in 1851, is information on his parents....Is Agnes his mother?.....I know its a big ask, but I'm stuck...

The 1842 Street Directory for Belfast also has a James NELSON listed at 21 Union Street. Rodger (sic) is also there at number 23 as a publican.

Hello Jan1954.....Yes, I saw that, and think it may be a brother...lived pretty well next door, so they must have known each other...There is also a George Nelson ..Publican.. I cant find it at present. but I have a George Nelson, spirit dealer..120 Great Georges St..Belfast...Is he the same....but there is also a JW. Nelson. Publican..87-89 Argyle St.. Belfast? Maybe it was a family thing... I think I got this info off a site called Lennon Wylie...hope thats not copyright..cant do that..
