Could anyone help with the following terms on death certificates?......

Nervous debility Pyoemia

Fibroid Phthisis Honouthe Asthemia 2 days
underlined words are hard to decipher.

Just out of interest I have a certificate where the cause of death was Locomotor Ataxia which, apparently, is final stage syphillis.

Also in 1900 a 33 year old woman died of Anorexia nervosa and exhaustion.

Hi DebbieLou,

Phthisis is TB if I remember correctly as one of my great grandmother's died from it in 1922.

"Pyaemia (or pyemia) is a type of septicaemia that leads to widespread abscesses of a metastatic nature. It is usually caused by the staphylococcus bacteria by pus-forming organisms in the blood. Apart from the distinctive abscesses, pyaemia exhibits the same symptoms as other forms of septicaemia. It was almost universally fatal before the introduction of antibiotics."

Nervous debility Pyoemia Could this be Pyaemia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pyaemia)?

Fibroid Phthisis Honouthe Asthemia 2 days Asthenia is weakness but I have no idea as to what Honouthe could be. Any chance of scanning that part of the certificate and posting it?
