Is anyone out there searching for the Norman surname in Cornwall? My ancestor John Norman sailed from Cornwall ABT. 1750 with several brothers. The town of Padstow seems to be the town our family dwelt in from about 1600 till 1670. I can't find any Normans in Padstow after that so I'm missing about 80 years between that date and the date my ancestor came to America. They could have moved elsewhere in Cornwall. And I thought perhaps if someone else were researching Normans in Cornwall there may be a connection. It seems our Norman family began in France and then went to England. There are so many missing records and even ...no records.
Our family has complete geneological records from 1762 in America so if anyone is researching our same family I can supply these. I have John Normans 1647 Will in Padstow. This John Norman is our earliest recorded ancestor in Cornwall and was born ABT 1580. Any help is appreciated!
Also the forename of Oliver has been important in our family since before 1600 and continues to this day.
Peace!
