Hi, I am new to all this. I am trying to get a copy of a birth certificate so I can find out the parents. What is the best way to go about this? The cert that I am looking for is for ERIC ALBERT WHITE and he is in the 3rd quarter of 1909.
Can any one help?

Hello Moyra - welcome to Brit-Gen
The best way would be to order it online here (http://www.gro.gov.uk/gro/content/certificates/). Just follow the links. :smile5:

Hi Moyra
This birth is on FreeBMD so you could order the certificate online through the site. I'm not sure if I can post a link, but the address is freebmd.rootsweb.com/
Just do a search for the name using the online form, and you will see that the record for his birth pops up in QSep 1909, along with the district and volume and page number. You will need these references to order the cert, so make a note of them, and then click on "click here to learn what to do now".
Scroll down to the "Obtaining a certificate from the GRO" and click on "For current information on fees and current ordering procedures click here"
This takes you to the GRO site, where you can follow the instructions to order the cert online.
This all sounds a bit long winded, but isn't really when you get used to it.
Whoops, Jan1954 beat me to it, with a much shorter post! (I don't know how to do that clever linking thingy!)
