I recently received the wrong marriage certificate, so sent the usual email with GQ in the subject heading.
I have now received an email from Southport part of which reads:
Enquiries or Complaints regarding orders you have placed for birth, death or marriage certificates should now be made online using the form on our website which can be found at www.ips.gov.uk/certcomplaints (http://www.ips.gov.uk/certcomplaints)
Please supply full identifying details when you complete the form and quote the email address which was used when you placed your order.
At the side of the complaint form there is a link for 'Complaints regarding General Register Office' which has phone and snail mail details.

I'm afraid that doesn't work for me. I think the URL should be -
https://www.ips.gov.uk/cps/rde/xchg/ips_live/hs.xsl/1292.htm

Apologies folks for the incorrect link. Peter's right (as usual :smile5: ).
However, I did copy what was in the GRO email, so perhaps it's their subtle way of reducing complaints. |biggrin|

Both links worked for me, but Pam's had to be copy/pasted. They both go to the same page. :smile5:

I have "fixed" Pam's linky - so it works fine now. Just one of those little glitches which can happen when copying details from somewhere.
As Kerrywood says, both links actually head to the same place in fact anyway ;)

I just love 'techie' people. Thank you Mark. |hug|
(I forgot it worked anyway if you did copy-and-paste.)

I received the same email - but the link they gave wouldn't work for me - had to go round the mulberry bush to get in. I'm still waiting to hear back - they reckoned 10 working days so I have a while to go as Easter was in between!

Ah - perhaps the message which Pam posted originally contained their error?
If you hover over the clicky link in the email, does it say "file://complaints" or similar? If so, then someone in the office has made a bit of a mistake which is being sent out to users!

I've checked it today and this time it worked although it didn't work for all of the day I received the email. Perhaps they have just started this and the link wasn't functioning quite correctly at the time - or just another gremlin??

Not that I'm trying to be pernickety (my husband would say that I don't need to try), but I've just been looking for the General Enquiries link to pass on to someone and used both of yours, but got Complaints each time.
So, as Pam mentioned General Enquiries, I'm poking in where I'm not invited and adding that link:
https://www.ips.gov.uk/cps/rde/xchg/ips_live/hs.xsl/177.htm
although General Enquiries tops the menu on the left hand side of the page for Complaints!
