I thought that the names I was searching for in Devon would be unusual... and they are - IN THE REST OF THE COUNTRY! lol
When I saw the list of how many people had the surname 'Smale' in Devon in the 1800's... well, I was sooo shocked! But... never mind, thought i... I'll just cross reference with the other names I know married into the family... so I looked up Burridge..
Yup, has to be the most popular surname Devon has ever seen... with the exception of Smale.
You have to laugh though...
or else you'd cry.
At least I sorted out most of the Binham name... one out of three isn't bad for now :)

When one door closes, another door opens. Which isn't always a good thing in genealogy :D
The Binhams are now sorted - I've probably done more on the Binhams than any other name in my tree. So... that should leave the Smales and the Burridges. Only it doesn't. I have now discovered that Samuel Burridge's wife's maiden name is Underhill... so will have to add that name to my list of 'searches'. For months I thought her maiden name was Casley... but THAT particular certificate is now going free to a good home...lol.
The Smales will probably have to wait until a magic wand is waved and all becomes clear :) Seriously... do you know how many John and William Smales there are in Devon??? hehehe

I think I have just had my 'good moments'... when research was easy and everything just clicked into place. Now I'm on the up-hill slog...hoping it will start to get easier soon :)
