On my great great grandfather's death record there is a reference in the margin saying:

"See Reg. Of Cor. Entries, Vol. 15P.112, Aug 30 1905"

And then a funny handwritten mark. Does anybody know what it means?

Would that be the Register of the Coroner Entries?

It may be. What's that?

This sounds like something from Scotland, where they keep a Register of Corrected Entries. These are what they sound like, though sometimes it's more an expansion of the information than a correction. Count yourself lucky to have one of these - they're often very informative. You can view them online at Scotland's People, and the SP website tells you more at (www) scotlandspeople.gov.uk/content/help/index.aspx?r=551&1314 (I can't tell you what the mark is - possibly someone's initials?)

That's interesting Arthur, & sounds reasonable. here I was just thinking it was entries extra to those listed on the certificate.
This is such a place of learning. :)

Thanks Arthur,

I found it, it says he died when he hit his head falling into the sunk area of the stairs aged 34.
