In my 1841 Census for Somerset, I have a HONNIBALL family with a grandson named Thomas WEBBER staying with them as a visitor. In my 1861 Census, he's there again ...... plus his two brothers!
In my file, I have two Honniball daughters showing as unmarried, so don't know which one it was who married Mr. Webber.
If some kind person could look for these lads in the 1851 Census, it would hopefully solve the problem?
Thomas WEBBER b. 1839 Dunkeswell or Hemyock .... different on my two Censuses
John WEBBER b. 1841 Dunkeswell
James WEBBER b. 1847 Clayhidon

Hate to disappoint you Diane but Thomas is with Robert Honiball in 1851 too at Markham Farm Wellington HO/107/1921 Folio 737 page 10. I cannot identify the other two though there are several candidates though none where both are together that I can see. Still you have one <vbg>

Hello Dianne,
I don't know whether this is any use, but there is this family from the LDS 1851 transcript of Devon with a Dunkeswell/Somerset/Hemyock connection:
PRO Ref: HO/107/1863, Folio 266, page 7
Holemore Farm, Honiton
Thomas Webber Head M 40 Farmer of 48 acres/1 labourer Dunkeswell Devonshire
Mary Webber Wife M 37 Buckland Somerset
John Webber Son 10 Hemyock Devonshire
Sarah Webber Daur 9 Hemyock Devonshire
Ann Webber Daur 8 Hemyock Devonshire
Edward Webber Son 6 Hemyock Devonshire
Joseph Webber Son 4 Hemyock Devonshire
Henry Webber Son 2 Upottery Devonshire
Mary Jane Webber Daur 3m Upottery Devonshire.
John would appear to be the correct age but there is no James.
Janet.
Hello Diane
Me again! Had a quick look at the LDS 1851 3 counties CD and found
HO/107/1863 Folio 317 Page 7
Abby Honiton
Dunkeswell Honiton
Edward Bunough - H - W - 70 - Retired Farmer - Dunkeswell, Devon
Jane Dimond - serv - U - 60 - Servant - Upottery, Devon
James Webber - GSon - 5 - Dunkeswell, Devon
so this may be 'your' James. I know he was supposed to have been born in Clayhidden, but if he's anything like his Honniball relatives, he was probably a bit confused as to where he came from! Hope his grandad and Jane were behaving themselves ;) And it does give you another (unusual) name to play with - can't be too many Bunoughs to the pound....
Best wishes
Ann

|bowdown| Thankyou very much ..... you've cracked it for me! Here's the clincher from my 1861 Census with the Grandparents:
Thomas WEBBER (21) Grandson Single Farm Labourer b. Hemyock, Devon
John WEBBER (20) Grandson Single Farm Labourer b. Dunkeswell, Devon
James WEBBER (14) Grandson Single Farm Labourer b. Clayhidon, Devon
Mary J. WEBBER (10) Grandaughter Dairy Maid b. Upottery, Devon
It's Mary Jane from the 1851 and I found this on FreeBMD after I read your messages:
Mar Qtr. 1839 Wellington District - Marriage: Thomas WEBBER and Mary HONNIBALL.
I'm very grateful to you all ...... found some deaths for Thomas and Mary WEBBER on FreeBMD, so it looks as though they both snuffed it before 1861. :(
Robert Honniball died 13/8/1862 and in his will he mentions his daughters. He also mentions his grandson Robert Webber the son of his late daughter Mary

I didn't have Robert's death date, just that he died before the 1871 Census, where Joan is shown as a Widow and living with their son Joseph ...... so thank you for that.
I have nine children for Mary & Thomas WEBBER, unfortunately no Robert! Could you please give me the details on him please?
Hi Diane,
Sorry I can't give you any further information on Robert Webber but I can list all those mentioned in Robert Honniball's will. He was of Mackham Farm, Hemyock. Died 13/8/1862. Will proved by his sons John and Joseph. He also mentions his wife Joan, his son Henry, daughters Ann wife of William Sparks, Sarah wife of William Forebear, Betty wife of Thomas Broom, Jane wife of George Jennings, Eliza Honniball and Robert Webber his grandson and son of his late daughter Mary. Hope this helps. Jeeb (Jeremy)
