Found Drowned - On Wednesday afternoon the body of a man named John Dunk was discovered in a pond off the the road leading to Best Beech Hill. It appears a young man, by the name of Playfoot, noticed a hat and coat on the bank of the pond and, suspicion being aroused, Pc Anscombe was summoned. The pond which was very deep was dragged. After some time the body was recovered. Dunk had left his home early on Tuesday morningBut his absence had not caused his family any foreboding of such an occurrence. The body was conveyed to the Red Lion Inn to await the inquest.
