emyk- private message...?

Hi
emyk sent me a private message in the past few hours! Unfortunately I spent a lot of time replying only to find that when I clicked "SUBMIT" a message tells me that emyk hasn't allowed replies to Private messages!!!!!!!!!!

Can anyone tell me how to trace her email addy or any other hints as to how I could contact him/her?

Hi Marlene,
And I can't access 'emyk' as a username to find out whether they're a newbie to the forum, who doesn't realise they've perhaps ticked, or not, ticked some boxes. :banghead: Bit silly to send PMs if you don't allow people to reply to them. :smile5:

The only thing I can suggest is that you post a message in the 'person to person'. Put 'emyk' in the thread heading.
(Person to person is in the 'Other stuff' section, a couple of forums on from the counties forum.)

Hello Marlene,

Presumably if emyk has sent you a PM, you can access emyk's profile?

And can therefore click on 'send email' in emyk's profile.

As I understand it, this will mean that you can send an email (through B-G) to emyk (i.e. B-G will forward your message to emyk's email address). This will reveal your email addy to emyk, but not emyk's to you. Emyk can then choose to reply to you by email direct to your email addy, or (if emyk does not wish to reveal his/her email addy) can reply to you by PM.

Worth a try?

I shall try your suggestions - thank you! I was SSSSSOOO excited because she has a branch of my WARD family from Alcester and I wrote a huge long reply and the DRAT! (Or something akin!)
Will get onto it now! I am sure s/he will be fairly new to the Forums.

Marlene - I've just checked the settings and you should be able to send private messages and e-mails to Emyk - perhaps she realised and changed the settings since you tried to reply?

Sorry Geoffers - I sent a test after reading your email and when I submitted a reply I got the message
"emyk has chosen not to receive or is not allowed to receive private messages.."

I cannot "see" an email addy as suggested by Jap on emyk's profile nor is there a place to send an email. I added her as a friend but hat was the best i could do!
She only joined the other day.

Just for completeness ...

You won't 'see' someone else's email address.

Perhaps emyk's profile has changed since you looked?
But anyway, emyk's profile now shows the following on the left (emphasis added):

- Add as Friend
- Send Private Message
- Send Email
- Add to Ignore List
-------------------------
- Find all posts
- Find all started threads
- View Articles
- View Blog Entries
