Hi
I've been tracing my family history for about six months and have just been referred to this forum by a fellow online searcher who, like me, lives in Australia and can't walk around London peering through dusty church records or UK national archives. Both sides of my family came to Australia via London in the late 19th and early 20th century. They seem to have had there ups and downs before setting out for the new world and I'm continually finding new clues. Recently I found that my great great great grandfather was the oldest man in Bethnal Green when he died in 1888 at 100 years of age after a life of fighting pirates on the high seas. On the other side there is a great grandfather who had a privileged life as the son of a London broker but died a derelict in the Australian bush. With both of them I have lots of gaps to fill and will be hoping for those with feet on the ground in the UK to help solve the mysteries.
