I've been researching my family before it was a popular thing to do. As a teenager I used to draw trees on the ends od newsprint rolls I would get as a paper boy. Now I'm retired and have the time and tools for it. My Plaskett family originated in Portsmouth, Hampshire and moved to Canada. I retired to Florida. I also reseach the maternal LIGHTFOOT leg from Northamtonshire.
I have transcribed for several sites - lately the familysearch project.

|wave| Welcome Plaskett...
You will enjoy being part of this multi national forum where you will find alot of help and may be able to pass on some advice for some of us as well. I hope Florida has warmed up or you will be thinking you are still in Canada.

Ah Florida, what wouldn't I give to be there right now?? It's 27F outside and snowing lightly, not much but just enough to turn the roads into an ice rink. Hairy ride to work today! Welcome to the forum.

Hi Paul
Thanks for the offer - I think I would be interested. I was born in Canada, not far from Hickson and Woodstock where your leg settled as farmers. I have visited their graves at the Hickson cemetery. At some point in time they all left the area, some for Toronto and Ottawa and some for British Columbia.
My branch is from Portsmouth Hampshire. I have traced them to that area into the 1700's. Mine is on Ancestry and is public
