difficulties from USA

Hi to all, researching my direct Douglas line.I am from Rotherham originally with a strong ancestral history in York. Trying to trace roots from USA is quite difficult once the information on line is exhausted.Not having access to archive rooms is a major problem.I look forward to hearing from you all.
