Hello there , my name is Sue and i live in North Somerset . I am a quite a novice to Genealogy but learning very fast , made quite a few (expensive ) mistakes along the way . It is so addictive isn't it i seem to spend every waking hour ( when i'm not working of course ) looking for various ancestors . History facinates me so i am in my element doing this

I'm very proud of myself as i have been able to trace and make contact with some of my father's side of the family, i have had no contact with anyone for over 50 yrs and some of them did not even know about me !! Unfortunatly they are mostly in Australia now , but i have gained so much information that i have made a tree up to my 4x g/grandfather , not bad for someone who did not even know my grandparents name . I am desperatly trying to do the same on my mother's side again i did not know any of them , but this has proved to be more difficult as there are no family members ( at the moment ) to help me. Matters seem to be complicated by the fact that my grandfather seems to have been born out of wedlock and then took the name of the person his mother married . So technically my great grandfather is not who i have found . Am i making sense there ????

I am looking forward to finding my way around this wonderful site and meeting you all ,and hopefully take some advice from all you experts, that will enable me to find these elusive people .

Sue

Hi Sue - and welcome to the forum!

I am sure the B-G crew will be able to assist with your mothers family - it sounds like just the sort of task they like to rise to!

The main thing is to enjoy both the forum and your research :)

Hello and welcome.

It may take a while to work your way around at the moment but not to worry, things will be sorted soon. If you do not know where to post your questions then just ask.
If you post in the wrong place don't worry about that either, a moderator can always help you out.

Good Luck.
