My Grandmother Emma Entwistle was born in 1896 and she had two illigetimate children Harold( My Father) born 1917 and Alice born 1919.
I have traced Harold's father on a copy of 'Order in Bastardy' made out by Emma Entwistle 2 months after Harold was born.
I have no information about Alice's father
I would have expected Emma would have made an Order in Bastardy for Alice
which may name the father.
If she did the the date would be around Jan.Feb 1919
County of Lancaster,Petty Session.Bury division
Alice was born at 240 Bolton Road West,Ramsbottom 9th Jan 1919
any advice would be welcome

I may be wrong, and someone will correct me on this, but I think Bastardy orders are held in the County Record offices now. If you can't find one for Alice, it may imply that a private arrangement had been made with the father to maintain the child.

..................or perhaps the father had died? - e.g. Th 'flu epidemic 1918-19 killed over 200,000 in Britain.
