Hello |wave|. I chose the username CarlTheDruid because I am a student of Druidry and am presently an initiated Bard. In Druidry there is an emphasis on remembering our own ancestors and trying to learn a bit about them so they become alive and known to us; their way of and views on life in their time.

My desire to learn more about my own ancestors became much stronger when my mother passed away last year and I realised I had never met my natural father and could not find anything out about him as talking to my mum about these things was always awkward. Now I feel I can study my genealogy without causing distress.

I am using Ancestry as a way of building my family tree and it is ok overall, though some of the transcripted documents from original to Ancestry database leave a lot to be desired.

One interesting line has been my Great Grandmother, Ellen Baggotts, who I think will lead me back to Belvoir Castle in 11th Century Leicesterhsire and further back to Normandy in France.

Hi Carl|wave|

Welcome to the friendliest and most helpful forum, there will be plenty of help so just fire away with your questions.

My grandfather was a Druid, I have his certificate hanging on my wall. i can't remember off hand which lodge but I also have his druid medals - I am interested in finding out more but haven't got round to it as other family research gets in the way.

Anyway make yourself a cup of tea, sit back and enjoy being part of this brilliant (and occasionally nuts) family.:D
