A SAD END- The body of an old man Jonathon Baker was discovered yesterday morning in a pond at Whiligh. The deceased was an old employee of G.J. Courthope,Esq.
Being missed at his lodgings search was made, which resulted in the discovery of several articles on the banks of a pond near Ward's Lane, and the pond being dragged the body was recovered.

Blimey! Seems throwing yourself into a pond was a good way to go. Mum has collected a few 'pond suicides' over the last couple of years.
I wonder if this could be him?
