Is there a name index for the 1861 census for Birkenhead? I am realistic enought to know that if there is not, it would be trying the patience of the very helpful people out there to ask for a lookup for an ancestor of mine without an address ....!
Very long and involved story - which I won't post yet! - involving my "missing" grandfather, but my latest attempts at finding him involve a JAMES NAYLOR who was born Birkenhead about 1860, and with whom my grandfather could have been living in 1891.
This JAMES NAYLOR could have been living with parents GEORGE and MARY - or they could have been called OWEN. It all gets very confused ....
However, if there is a name index, he might just pop up - as either JAMES NAYLOR or JAMES OWEN - somewhere in Birkenhead.
Many thanks
