I am looking for families with the name Henley and Trice living in and around Brighton throughout the 1800s - is anyone else looking at this?

Thanks,
Helen

Hello, Helen -

I have nobody called Trice, but plenty of Henleys in Brighton from the 1830s onwards: father and son William Henley, upholsterer, born Woburn 1781 and John Henley tailor, born Woburn 1809, moved to Brighton late 1820s-early 1830s. In 1838 John Henley married Esther Vine, daughter of William Vine, miller. A number of children and grandchildren in Brighton during the 19th century, and there are still descendants in Brighton today. My grandfather Albert Henry Henley (a tailor, like his father George and grandfather John) was born in Brighton in 1882 but moved to London. However, I know there were other Henley families in brighton, and the absence of any Trice connections suggests to me that this is a different family.

all the best
