I'm looking for help to clarify details of a 3rd Great Grandmother's death and burial.
Frances Underdown apparently died in 1863 in Queenborough. There are 2 possible records for Frances in 1863 - (a) Q2 1863, Vol - 2 a, page 427, Sheppey ( the transcription shows Francis ( with an i ) but the actual record is Frances ( with and e ). (b) Q4 1863, Vol - 2 a, page 422, Sheppey.
The Parish Burial register for Queenborough has a gap from 1857 to 1866 so no help there.
If anyone can shed some light on this for me it would be most welcome.
Thanks,|help|

If you check on FreeBMD for births and deaths for Franc* Underdown (include the asterisk then you get Francis and Frances) 1861-1863, you'll see that that there is birth in Tunbridge registration district in September quarter 1861 for a Frances. This I would say is the Frances who in 1871 is aged 9, detailed as born and living in Brenchley, as Brenchley is in the Tunbridge registration district.
There is also a Frances Lavinia registered in Sheppey district in March quarter 1862. (Ignore the Stepney district bit - that's a transcriber error, and I have sent a correction to FreeBMD.)
I would reckon that the other Frances death registration in 1863 refers to Frances Lavinia. (I've also sent a correction to FreeBMD re the incorrect spelling of Francis in June quarter 1863.)
Confirmation - Frances Lavania was buried 24 May 1863 Sheppey cemetery.
Strange that there is no burial listed for the Frances registered in December quarter. But presumably she is the Frances you want.
I'm not having much luck in finding which of the Kent Record Offices hold the PRs for Queenborough, but I've found this (http://www.kentarchives.org.uk/DServeKAS/dserve.exe?&dsqIni=Dserve.ini&dsqApp=ArchivePub&dsqCmd=CanterburyShow.tcl&dsqDb=Catalog&dsqPos=14&dsqSearch=%28%28text%29=%27queenborough%27%29) about BTs for Queenborough Holy Trinity and it seems that there are burials listed for 1863.

Thanks Peter. :)
I knew if I looked long enough I'd find it - but I was too lazy to look long enough. :D

There is a Frances Lavinia Underdown buried in Sheppey Cemetery, Halfway. She was buried on 24th May, 1863 and aged 1. Could this be the child of your Frances? There is no plot number given, so it's possible she was put in a childrens grave, although, usually they gave the numbers. My young sister was interred in a childs grave in 1938 there.
Like you, I couldn't find a mention in Queenborough records.
These details are from a transcription.

Thanks to everyone for your responses - looks like the death registered in Q4 is the most likely. I have some more digging to do and will be back with further questions in another post.
Happy New Year - be safe - be well,
