Hello All

I have scrolled through the previous posts on here but don't think my question is answered. I have Family Tree Maker 2005 and really like the Fan Chart and the All in One Tree. This facility has vanished in the FTM 2009 version. I was about to switch to Rootsmagic because I like the way I can record sources and also, it has a really nice narrative report which pulls in all the facts and tells a story. But (there is always one of those isn't there) it's reports are naf (I think) and it doesn't have a Fan Chart.

So, does anyone know of a package that has the Fan chart and also a narrative report? At the moment I am uploading my data from one package to another in order to get the functionality of both.

Have you considered Family Tree SuperTools which does fan charts and may be compatible with your version of FTM?

If you like to use pens (rather than creating a chart direct from a fh programme), there are blank fan charts available from The Parish Chest (http://www.parishchest.com/shop/index.php?cmd=listlinkeditems&cat=D11060&breadcrumb=Recording+Your+Family+History:Family+Tr ee+Charts+%28Blank%29+listed+by+Product)

Sue, The Master Genealogist from Wholly Genes has, inter alia, fan charting and narrative reporting facilities.

As Peter Goodey mentioned, FTST (Family Tree SuperTools) is a product which might suit. It is a Wholly Genes product and provides many facilities including flexible charting features without switching your family tree program.

Google for Wholly Genes and check it out.

Good luck,

JAP

thanks all - a far most positive response than I had hoped for. Will check out the recommendations.
