I'm not yet 100% positive that this Philip BEVAN is the father of my ancestor, John BEVAN the weaver. Philip died without leaving a will, so there had to be an inventory made before Administration was granted to his wife Margaret.

I was delighted with this inventory of his "Goods Cattols and Chattels", dated 1773. (Spelling is as in the original).

"his purs and Apparels
to oxen and to Steers
four Cows to Steers and three heifers
four heifers & their calves
Corn in the barn and hagart & in the Land
Twenty Small Sheep
One pig and poultry
Long hay and Short hay
Brass of all Sorts and pewter of all Sorts
to Chest to Tables and all other timber Goods and Lumber
Beds and beding and Iorns of all Sorts
one Clock & all Linnin
all Inplements of Husbontary
butter and Chees

Praisors {John Harry
{Thomas Bowen "

The total value of all Philip's possessions was 28 pounds 10 shillings....

The online wills database at the National Library of Wales is a treasure.
