In the Hughes Business Directory for London of 1920, there is a Frederick Evans noted at Dining Rooms 240 Walworth Road SE 1.

Can anyone give me more info about these rooms or about the Frederick Evans that appears to have been the owner?

On a modern map this appears to be in Camberwell, what is now the A215

Using google maps & street view, the current 240 Walworth Road (which is in Walworth SE17) is a Kodak (digital imaging centre) sandwiched between 238 Mehari Supermarket & 242 Subway:

I am more interested in the premises, as it was in 1920 and it's tenure or connection to Frederick Evans.

Have you tried contacting any of these which are very close by ?

Southwark local studies which is in Borough High Street
The Local History Library in Peckham
or
Newington Library which is a hop skip and jump from what you are looking for.

I pass two of them on a regular basis have never had to use them. Might be worth an email.

Hi again,

I was in Walworth (to buy pie & mash) yesterday and as you can see from google view, the basic structure of most of the buildings is as they were in the 1920's. There was bomb damage in the area during the second world war and the usual developments of the 60's & 70's but the vast majority survive. I also assume that the street numbering hasn't altered. Just a short walk along the Walworth Road (towards the Elephant & Castle) you will find the Cumming Museum (http://www.southwark.gov.uk/DiscoverSouthwark/heritageandhistory/TheCumingMuseum/) which may be of interest.

I have not yet explored these avenues, the institutions you all mention look like promising sources for the information I seek.
As Peter points out I may have to get someone to do this for me, it's not a convenient location to NZ.
