I came across a book at work a few days ago,"the grim almanac of cornwall"
Its full of misfortunes and crimes and has names of the people concerned in the stories,it may just have a family member in there somewhere.
I did find an interesting fact about Redruth in the March section though,i wont go into it in detail here but it concerned the large single female population in the late 1860's and how they earned their living..
Apparently something to do with the amount of mining widows in the area.
