In 1780, Samuel Holmes, his wife, Elizabeth and 10 children came to the United States. a Great great niece wrote in her letter now entitled the Bonner's Manuscript that this family came from Kerry. The children's names are Anne; Jane; Elizabeth; Margaret; James; Samuel; Nancy; Hannah;Peggy and John. John was only 2 years old when he took that trip from Ireland to America. All the children were born between 1765 and 1778, all in Kerry (according to her letter). I checked the free pages for Kerry and found no mention of the Holmes name in 1700's. Could she have been mistaken, could it be Derry? In one translation of the letter, it was transcribed as Querry a non starter of course so the next good guess was Kerry. Any suggestions, help, etc. with tracing this family back further would be appreciated. Thanks.
