Looking for John Gee gives his place of birth on 1881,1891 and 1901 census as Nottingham. On the 1871 census his place of birth is given as Loughbro Leicester. He married Sarah Lowe in 1868 Loughbro. His place of residence on marriage cert. is Queen st. Leicester. As yet have not been able to find a birth for him, his fathers name is William Gee and his age on his marriage cert. is 25yrs.His age varies on different cenus's. Have been unable to locate him on 1861 with his parents William&Ann Gee in Nottingham. Would like to find his birth and to clarify his parents are William&Ann. I have been able to follow his whereabouts through until the 1901 census.Would be very grateful for any help.

Hi
Gee is a fairly common name but my great grandmother was born Elizabeth Ann Gee and her father was called William. She was born in 1846 in Somerby which is near Melton Mowbray in Leicestershire and not far from Loughborough.
It's probably completely the wrong family but there are obviously some similarities. I'm not actually following that line so do not have much info on them. However if your research eventually suggests a link I'll be happy to pass on what I have.

I also have family in Somerby William Gee and wife Elizabeth who run the pub in the village. Have you more details?

Hi Robin
Sounds like it could be the same family if the dates correspond. One of my great grandmothers was Elizabeth Ann Gee (1846-1932) and she was born in Somerby. As far as I can tell she was a daughter of George William (1801-1885)and Elizabeth Gee although I've done that bit of research entirely on-line and do not have any original documents to back that up. George was I believe, more often known as William and he was a publican and then later a gardener in Leicester.
Does any of that gybe with your info?
cheers
