Hi,
l have only been doing genealogy a few months so not sure what happens.
l purchased 2 marriage cert's online l received one and not the other, usually if l order 2 they come in seperate envelopes but together. Its been over a week since the first one came and l have not received anything stating they could not find the other one. l have sent them an email 2 days ago but still awaiting their reply. Do they charge you again for the cert if you do not get it? Has this happen to anyone else? Comments appreciated.

I find they are slow at answering emails but usually do so. I have had problems once or twice and emailed wimessage=I find they are slow at answering emails but usually do so. I have had problems once or twice and emailed with the ONS Reference number and they checked and responded. Also I have received a certifcate which was mailed to me in error. So your certificate could have suffered the same fate. An email inquiry would seem a good move at this point.

Hi Gen-Lady,
In the past with one of my certificates I was having trouble receiving it as the post in my area was being a month an a half late and the GRO posted me another copy of the certificate free of charge twice bfore the post office got any of my post to me at which point I got three copies on th same day.

I too have found that they reply to e-mails and act on them at no extra cost. In fact I now have two copies of one certificate because they couldn't trace what happened to the first one. It did eventually turn up at the same time as the replacement.
It turns out that the original had been delayed because the indexes gave the wrong page ref.
This is a huge improvement from the days when you had to fight to prove that the indexes were wrong!
Just a thought - you did put GQ in the subject line in your e-mail? You just get an automated reply if you don't.

Hi Mary,
The first email l didn't as l had never had to do it before, so got the auto reply, so l sent another with the GQ added in the subject line and have not had auto reply back as yet. The info you gave me made me feel better, l had included the ref no and all the details so l hope all goes well and l will receive the certificate shortly.
