I am trying to find any information at all on
1. Thomas Dybs, soldier in Col. James Longs Regt. of Foot C 1743. Whether information on where he enlisted and disbanded would be available.

2. John Dibbs soldier in the 71st Regiment of foot which disbanded in Perth Scotland in 1783. I have a record of his discharge under name Dubbs,
but wonder if anyone knows if enlistment records would be available or any other information.

3. Edward Dibbs in Elgin Fencibles and Fifeshire Militia. I have a record of his discharge in 1855 but am looking for where he may have enlisted and where his postings may have been.

Searching the Nat.Archives I find confusing so if anyone can give me helpful tips, I would be very grateful.
Thank you,

You will need to visit The National Archives to view surviving records, the catalogue will just help to locate documents which may be of use.

You might try

Musters and pay lists (http://www.nationalarchives.gov.uk/catalogue/RdLeaflet.asp?sLeafletID=16)

Pensions (http://www.nationalarchives.gov.uk/catalogue/RdLeaflet.asp?sLeafletID=15)

The records for the third chap should be appearing online by 2011 - see this news item (http://www.nationalarchives.gov.uk/news/stories/212.htm)
